CMS websites – putting your website in your control

We firmly believe that a website should not simply be an online brochure but should act as a tool for generating business. Until recently the luxury of a Content Management System (CMS) has only been for clients with a significant budget. However, with recent developments in cutting edge ‘Open Source’ CMS technologies we are now excited to offer a Content Management System as part of the design and build for all website projects.

We feel this is no longer a luxury to clients but a necessity as it hands the control back to its rightful owner letting you update the site as you wish with no additional agency costs – which has to be a good thing in these difficult times.

We offer web design and build with the many benefits of SilverStripe CMS from as little as £1,995 +VAT - get in touch today to see how a new website could help your business.

What is a Content Management System (CMS)?

A Content Management System (CMS) makes it easy for non-technical contributors to maintain and expand their website. A CMS uses software and a database to manage and organise website content. Once a visitor makes a request to the website the CMS selects the correct content and displays it in a customised interface template.

The benefits of our preferred CMS (SilverStipe CMS)?

  • CMS can be operated using a modern web browser (we recommend FireFox 3+).
  • Designed with non-technical content authors in mind. People with only average knowledge of word processing applications, such as MS Word, can create the content directly. No previous HTML knowledge is required.
  • Configurable access restrictions. Users are assigned roles and permissions that prevent them from editing content which they are not authorised to change.
  • Consistency of design is preserved thanks to CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).
  • Navigation is automatically generated and adjusted on-the-fly. Menus are generated automatically based on the database content - therefore you get no links going to pages that don't exist.
  • Content is stored in a database.
  • As updating your website can be done in-house you will have no ongoing agency costs.
  • Rock solid stability.
  • Ability to set up user groups and restrict access to certain content.
  • Easy form creation with all form data being stored securely online.
  • A wide choice of 'modules and widgets' to extend the functionality.
  • Simple gallery creation.
  • Online image editor.
  • Top class and wide ranging SEO options.
  • Powerful, easy to use content editor.

Open-source community

SilverStripe has the support of a large and active community of developers and designers who are constantly contributing modules and widgets. As the system has an impressive developer community this makes extending the system to the most demanding of specifications a simpler and more costs effective process than building from scratch or using an in-house system.

It's what's upfront that counts!

The SilverStripe interface is outstanding in its field. It makes great use of 'Ajax' to give the content editor a great user experience and makes updating content a breeze - check out the movie below for an overview.

NB. As of July 09 we no longer support IE 6. Whilst every effort is made for the websites we build to be operational in IE6, we have made the decision that  full IE6 support is holding back on functionality and design for the vast majority of users so there may be slight structural variation when viewing using IE 6. We are happy to offer full IE 6 support as an additional tailored service, please specify on enquiry.
